Investigation of Amorphous Non-Metal Organic Frameworks for Proton Conduction using NIMROD
Abstract: Non-metal organic frameworks (NMOFs) are a recently discovered porous material that can exist as crystalline or amorphous. The amorphous form has shown promising performance for proton conduction, however, the local structure and pore structure remains poorly understood. This proposal aims to investigate the structure-property relationship governing proton transport in amorphous NMOFs. Neutron scattering techniques, such as NIMROD, will be employed to probe both local and pore-scale structure. Understanding these relationships will provide fundamental insight into proton transport within amorphous NMOFs as well as its local structure, guiding the generation of new generation proton conductors. This XPress service will be used to get preliminary data of two NMOFs.
