Magnetic structure of van der Waals non-collinear magnet Fe3Sb2O4Br4
Abstract: We have synthesized single crystals of a layered, orthorhombic van der Waals magnet Fe3Sb2O4Br4 with a distorted Kagome Fe2+ layer. Magnetic measurements show multiple magnetic transitions upon cooling below 25 K, with complex uniaxial magnetic field responses below 20 K, with a saturation plateau of only 1.5 B per Fe2+. This indicates the development of noncollinear magnetism and likely complex temperature and field dependent magnetic ordering. To understand this system, we propose a combined powder and single crystal neutron diffraction experiment on WISH to probe the zero-field magnetic order as well as the field induced transitions along the unique a axis of the material. Understanding this system could open the door to layered oxy-halide magnets as next generation 2D magnetic materials.
