Magnetic excitations in the skyrmion-lattice ReMn2Ge2 (Re=Ce,Nd) intermetallics - Part I

Abstract: The light rare-earth members of the ReMn2Ge2 intermetallics family (Re=Ce,Nd,Pr) have been shown recently to host stable skyrmion-bubble lattices in moderate-applied magnetic fields at room temperature. Although fundamental to explain this phenomenon, the spin interactions in these systems have never been reported. We propose to measure the excitation spectra of two selected members of this group (Re=Ce,Nd) in zero magnetic field. Our aim is to refine a full magnetic Hamiltonian capable of describing quantitatively the system, including the formation of skyrmion lattices and the multiple spin-reorientation transitions taking place over a wide range of temperatures.
