Contrast-resolved dynamics and conformational entropy of thermo-responsive vesicles by quasi-elastic neutron scattering
Abstract: Self-assembled spherical bilayers (vesicles) serve as essential architectures for targeted drug delivery and micro-reactor technologies. However, their formation is inherently linked to molecular and environmental parameters, such as surfactant architecture, interactions and temperature. Our previous QENS study on a known surfactant vesicle system successfully established a direct correlation between temperature, ionic strength, and the dynamic response of these systems, revealing clear signatures of molecular mobility and structural rearrangement. While these findings demonstrate the importance of these effects, the current dataset remains limited by incomplete contrast variation across all conditions. To achieve a comprehensive, contrast-resolved mechanistic model, we require the proposed measurement series. This will allow us to fully elucidate structural and dynamic contributions of mixed surfactant vesicles.
