Determination of the stress-induced magnetic order in Sr2RuO4
Abstract: Sr2RuO4 is a well-studied correlated-electron material, with superconductivity whose origin remains unknown. Under a uniaxial stress of between 1.0 and 1.6 GPa, magnetic order is induced in Sr2RuO4. There is an obvious possible nesting vector in the stress-induced electronic structure, but under stresses exceeding 1.0 GPa the electronic effective mass is strongly suppressed in Sr2RuO4, and, additionally, at such large stresses the nesting may become weaker. It may therefore be a surprise that magnetic order emerges in this stress range, and to probe further its propagation vector should be identified.
