SANS studies on the low-temperature skyrmion phase in a chiral metal

Abstract: We propose to study the magnetic structure of single-crystalline Fe0.85Co0.15Si at low temperatures via SANS. We have inferred the magnetic phase diagram of this material from magnetization measurements, suggesting the existence of an unknown magnetic phase at low temperatures. Experimental studies of the cubic magnetic anisotropy in this system, together with theoretical simulations, suggest that this phase likely represents a low-temperature skyrmion phase (LTS).
