Oxide-derived Copper as a Catalyst for Electrochemical CO2 Reduction Reaction: ME-TNS Study
Abstract: The electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2RR) presents a promising route for mitigating climate change while generating value-added chemicals and fuels. Among available catalysts, oxide-derived copper (OD-Cu) exhibits unique structural and electronic properties, leading to enhanced selectivity towards C2+ products. This proposal outlines a study employing a combination of Modulation Excitation (ME) and total neutron scattering (TNS) to unravel the dynamic behaviour of active sites in OD-Cu catalyst electrodes. By addressing fundamental questions regarding facet dependency, intermediate species, and reaction mechanisms, this work aims to provide deeper insights that are not accessible through conventional TNS approaches.
