Inelastic Neutron Scattering Studies on Complex Magnetic Ground State in Alkali-Doped Nd0.7Sr0.25A0.05MnO3 (A = Na, K)

Abstract: Alkali-doped Nd0.7Sr0.25A0.05MnO3 (A = Na, K) perovskites exhibit a non-saturating magnetisation that peaks at 145 K, signalling a complex magnetic ground state beyond canonical double-exchange, so we request 48 h on MARI to perform multi-E inelastic neutron scattering (60, 17.8, 8.2 meV, 5-300 K) that will quantify how Na vs K size-mismatch tunes the magnon density-of-states G(E) and local spin dynamics, delivering spin-wave stiffness D and nearest-neighbour exchange J across Tc 265 K, 5 meV diffusive or gapped response below 145 K to identify canted/cluster states, linewidth evolution contrasting Na- vs K-induced disorder, phonon magnon coupling signatures near the martensitic-like anomaly, and Nd crystal-field levels linking single-ion anisotropy to the macroscopic M(T) anomaly, with complementary SpinW, McPhase and DFT modelling converting the measured G(E) into quantitative exchange constants for direct comparison with concurrent GEM diffraction, thereby establishing atomic-scale structure property relationships that guide the design of next-generation CMR and magnetocaloric manganites.
