Structural study of RuO2 across pressure-driven rutile-to-CaCl2-type phase transition
Abstract: This project will utilize the capabilities of the PEARL instrument, including neutron transparent ZTA anvils and sintered diamond (SD) anvils, to collect high quality powder neutron diffraction of hydrostatically compressed ruthenium dioxide, RuO2, to a maximum pressure of approximately 10 GPa. Measurements will probe crystal structure behavior surrounding the pressure-driven, second-order phase transition between tetragonal and high pressure orthorhombic phases.
