µSR study on quasi-2D superconductor Ta-doped TiSe2

Abstract: Layered transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) with strong spin-orbit coupling (SOC) host diverse quantum phenomena, including unconventional superconductivity and charge density waves (CDWs). Recent interest has surged due to observations of time-reversal symmetry breaking and exotic superconducting states like Ising superconductivity, which exhibits remarkably high in-plane critical fields. While typically associated with non-centrosymmetric systems, Ising superconductivity can also arise in centrosymmetric materials via spin-orbital locking. Despite progress, a comprehensive understanding of superconducting ground states in 2D materials remains elusive. This proposal focuses on Ta-doped 1T-TiSe2 to explore unconventional superconductivity. Pristine 1T-TiSe2 is a topological semimetal exhibiting a CDW transition but no superconductivity. Ta substitution, offering uniform electronic modification and enhanced SOC, is anticipated to stabilize an unconventional superconducting state, potentially revealing novel insights into the interplay between topology, SOC, and superconductivity in two dimensions.
