Redefining Sulfur Hydrogen Bonding: The Structure of Liquid Hydrogen Sulfide

Abstract: We request 2 days on SANDALS to (re-)measure the structure of liquid hydrogen sulfide H2S. New data acquisition is key to be able exploit newly developed, state-of-the-art analysis tools, such as the Dissolve software, that will allow us to derive the three-dimensional geometry of sulfur hydrogen bonding. These measurements are key to redefine sulfur hydrogen bonding in the liquid state in comparison to recently acquired data on liquid thiols, which show short and directional S-H???S interaction.
