Studying the magnetic ground state of Ti4MnBi2
Abstract: The linear temperature dependence of resistivity, a key issue in condensed matter physics, is associated with magnon fluctuations or spinon scattering. Ti4MnBi2, a correlated metal with 1D spin-1/2 magnetism, exhibits such behavior. Neutron scattering confirms spinon presence. Recent studies on its low-temp resistance show T^2 dependence at zero field, linear-T at ~2T, and back to T ^2 above 5T. To determine if the linear-T resistance relates to magnons or spinons, we propose SR measurements to precisely define its magnetic ground state, requesting 2 days of MuSR spectrometer beam time.
