Quantum-to-Classical Crossover in Y-Kapellasite: A Fingerprint of the Dirac Spinon Framework
Abstract: Y-kapellasite shows an anisotropic kagome network which shows fragile (1/3, 1/3) magnetic ordering with a low ordered moment of 0.03 Bohr magneton/Cu+2, which can be attributed to the ground state being near the phase boundary between the ordered state and the spin liquid. Our recent pulsed field measurements reveal a 1/9 plateau in the magnetisation at low temperatures that disappears around ~ 15 K. Detailed NMR investigations have shown a broad peak maximum in 1/T1 at ~ 15 K, which does not correlate with any feature found in bulk characterization, indicating some kind of crossover in the spin dynamics. The disappearance of the plateau and the broad peak in spin lattice dynamics suggest a Dirac spinon framework that might be associated with a quantum-to-classical crossover. Zero-field and longitudinal-field muSR measurements made as a function of temperature can be very informative on the spin correlations in frustrated magnets, as demonstrated in our recent work on Yb-based triangular magnets that allowed us to extract the entanglement length and quantum Fisher information as a function of temperature. Here, they could help to solve the mystery of the nature of the spin dynamics in this system, allowing a determination of the quantum-to-classical crossover in Y-kapellasite.
