Study of microscopic superconducting properties of topological semimetal In2B via ?SR
Abstract: Topological materials, characterized by unique electronic properties arising from their band structure, are at the forefront of quantum materials research. Classified as topological insulators or semimetals, these materials hold promise for advanced technologies. Superconductors with nontrivial band topology are particularly interesting, exhibiting unconventional properties. This proposal focuses on the superconducting ground state of In2Bi, a non-symmorphic hexagonal compound (space group P6?/mmc) exhibiting bulk type-II superconductivity. Non-symmorphic materials are promising for realizing time-reversal symmetry breaking and topological superconductivity. Band structure calculations for In?Bi reveal Dirac crossings gapped by strong spin-orbit coupling. In2Bi shows low upper critical field and surface behavior also suggest a potential coexistence of type-I and type-II superconductivity. This study aims for a detailed microscopic investigation of In2Bi ground-state properties to understand the interplay between superconductivity and strong spin-orbit coupling in topological semimetal.
