Quasielastic neutron scattering study of the organic cation dynamics in the mixed cation system MA_(1?x)EA_xPbI_3

Abstract: The proposed study aims to elucidate the organic cation motion in the organic inorganic halide perovskite (OIHP) MA_(1-x)EA_xPbI_3 (MA+ is methylammonium, EA+ is ethylammonium). Our group has previously established that introducing FA+ (formamidinium) in MAPbI3 leads to a vast increase in MA+ rotational speed. Studying the incorporation of EA+ in MAPbI3 will give information of the generalizability of our previous results, in addition to gain fundamental understanding of the dynamical behavior of the EA+ cation in the compound. Together with optical techniques employed at Chalmers University, the results from this study is expected to lead to new insight in what role the A-site cation plays in determining the optoelectronic properties of OIHPs.
