Texture evolution of forged Titanium Ti-64 during ?-annealing
Abstract: We propose to use neutron diffraction to track the texture evolution during the phase annealing of forged Ti-64 materials. The aim is to determine when during annealing the texture changes occur, how this changes with starting microstructure and heating rate. We will need to head up to 1100 C which will require ENGIN-X's new induction furnace. We will also apply a new analysis method to quantify grain size from the non-uniformity of the diffracted intensity over the solid angle of the ENGIN-X detector banks.
