Neutron imaging on Li ion solid state electrolyte single crystal
Abstract: The primary aim of this experiment is to validate an in-situ imaging cell designed in house. The electrochemical cell will be ~10mm diameter. Our sample is a polished ~5mm diameter LLZO single crystal, sandwiched between two lithium metal electrodes. One of the Li electrodes will be the natural lithium and the other is 7Li; they will both be ~3mm diameter. We will use the IMAT CCD with whitebeam, achieving an L/D of 170 and with the sample close (~20 mm) to the scintillator, the spatial resolution will be about 100um. We aim to validate a new imaging cell design for LLZO single crystal, providing the proof-of-concept, so we can image the Li ion dynamics inside the crystal when applying a bias on the cell in future experiment.
