TOF inelastic neutron scattering study of polycrystalline Ho-based i-MAX magnetically modulated phases
Abstract: It was found very recently that Ho-based i-MAX phase, (Mo2/3Ho1/3)2GaC, present a particularly unique magnetic structure. Indeed, the structure can be described as a longitudinal amplitude-modulated structure, which itself is amplitude-modulated in a perpendicular direction. This represents a very unusual case of a 2-k magnetic structure with no symmetry relation between the propagation vectors. In order to get insight on the microscopic origins of the stabilized magnetic phases and study the Crystalline Electric Field of Ho3+ ion, we would like to measure the excitation spectrum on a polycrystalline sample.
