Catalytic dehydration of glucose, fructose, and the water-soluble fraction of pyrolysis bio-oil to produce hydroxymethylfurfural: a continuation of proposal 2420036
Abstract: The dehydration of fructose, glucose, and the water-soluble fraction (WSF) of pyrolysis bio-oil was carried out using H-mordenite in the TOSCA 2420036 proposal. During this process, H-mordenite effectively dehydrated the reagents; however, the production of water produced within the inconel cells obscured the spectra of hydroxymethylfurfural and other byproducts. In this continuation proposal, the objective is to conduct the reaction in a continuous reactor (outside of ISIS), distill the water, and analyze the dry products using Inelastic Neutron Scattering (INS) in TOSCA.
