In-operando Neutron Diffraction Studies on Low-cost and Sustainable Sodium Iron Manganese Oxide Cathode Material for Sodium-ion Batteries
Abstract: We request 4 days of beam time on POLARIS to investigate the phase transitions and structural changes during electrochemical cycling of low-cost and sustainable sodium iron manganese oxide cathode material via in-operando neutron diffraction measurement. These real-time measurements will provide us with a direct insight into the structural behaviour of the Na2/3Fe1/3Mn2/3O2 (NFMO) and Na16/24Fe8/24Mn15/24 Ti1/24O2 (NFMTO) electrodes and will help us to improve battery performance. We have thoroughly discussed this proposal with Dr. Gabriel Perez, POLARIS Instrument Scientist, who is a collaborator in this project.
