Wide-angle supermirror analyzers for the WISH and Magic Instruments
Abstract: Neutron diffraction with polarization analysis yields unique information on condensed matter systems, particularly where magnetism is involved. However, it incurs a large flux cost, which has limited its application to systems either containing large magnetic moments or where large samples are available. To increase the count-rate of polarized neutron diffraction instruments, and hence to broaden their application to a wider range of systems, it is essential to provide wide-angle polarization analysis capabilities. We here propose a test of two wide-angle devices, both based on supermirrors in respectively transmission (WISH) and reflection (MAGIC) geometries.
