Crystal electric field excitation in TbPtSn
Abstract: We want to investigate the crystal electric field excitation in TbPtSn on MAPS instrument. Our magnetic susceptibility measurement on high quality single crystalline samples show strong anisotropy between the susceptibility measured along ab-plane and c-axis. Another striking feature is broad maxima observed at 100K when field is applied along the c-axis. This broad maxima is most probably linked with crystal electric field effect and need further investigation by neutron measurements. The combined results from neutron diffraction measurements along with our bulk characterisation of TbPtSn single crystal will give high impact publication. We sent 3.5 gm powdered sample to ISIS. We will measure at 10K, 50K, 100K, and 300K using EI = 100MeV and chopper 400 Hz.
