Antiferro-Quadrupolar Order in Dysprosium Bronze DyPd3S4
Abstract: By measuring the crystal electric fields and the possible |Q|-dependence of the excitations of DyPd3S4 it is possible to elucidate the origins of the quadrupolar ordering in this material. The goal of this experiment is to determine the CEF scheme by extending the dynamic range and to investigate the possible |Q|-dependence of DyPd3S4in a first step to re-investigate this AFQ-ordering material. These measurements will serve as the backbone for any future single crystal experiments and aid in the determination of the macroscopic model describing the dipolar and quadrupolar couplings in DyPd3S4.This is a vital step in understanding the AFQ properties of this whole family of Bronzes.
