Probing N2 molecules in oxidised oxynitride perovskites
Abstract: Oxidation of some oxynitrides in air produces compounds in which the N2 formed in the oxidation is retained within the poorly-crystalline oxide that forms. This proposal is to use neutron total scattering measurements to probe the nature of the retained N2 molecules and their local coordination environments within the solid. Comparison will be made with O2-containing oxidised battery materials.
