Anisotropic dynamics and skyrmion physics in multi-q magnets

Abstract: In an effort to understand the interactions at play in centrosymmetric skyrmion-hosting systems, we propose here to investigate TbRu2Si2 and TbRu2Ge2. These are materials based on the skyrmion host GdRu2Si2, in which the additional presence of orbital angular momentum promotes significant spin orbit splitting. Here we will probe the magnetic dynamics across the rich phase diagram as a function of crystal orientation and material. Our aim is to use the temperature-dependence of the muon relaxation rate to assess the dynamics within each of the magnetic phases, as we expect magnon-driven, critical scaling and energy-gap driven temperature-dependences to distinguish the different magnetic states.
