Unravelling intriguing magnetic phenomena within NiO-FeFe2O4 dumbbells
Abstract: We propose a combined SANSPOL and POLARIS study on NiO-FeFe2O4 dumbbell NPs to determine non-interaction nanoparticles' full 3D spin structure. Using SANSPOL, we will determine the spatially resolved magnetization M(parallel) with high precision (FeFe2O4 MNPs and NiO- FeFe2O4 dumbbell), whereas the M(perpendicular) contribution for dumbbells, related to the spatially resolved spin disorder/canting will be gained from POLARIS. A combination of both techniques is required to discriminate potential diffuse scattering arising from the 3He cell, a contribution to the Q resolution that would significantly affect the scattering signal of our highly monodisperse samples.
