BaFe12Se7O6: non-collinear magnetic order
Abstract: Non-collinear magnetic structures can give rise to unusual combinations of properties but are somewhat unusual, and often rely on rare and expensive, or toxic elements. We propose to investigate the non-collinear magnetic order in an iron oxyselenide that undergoes a series of magnetic phase transitions on cooling. These are thought to cause changes to the crystal structure, and our proposed experiment will allow us to explore the relationship between its crystal structure and magnetic behaviour. The results will complement our computational calculations and give insights for designing next-generation functional materials.
