Interplay between localised magnetic moments and itinerant electrons via Mott transitions in cubic antiferromagnets
Abstract: The Mott transition is a central phenomenon in condensed matter physics, where resistivity dramatically changes due to perturbations. However, the subtle interplay between magnetism and itinerant electrons during this transition remains poorly understood. In this project, we focus on the primary Mott system, pyrite antiferromagnets, proposing to trace the magnetic moment with temperature and doping through neutron diffraction. Our results will provide direct experimental evidence to understand how magnetism interacts with itinerant electrons via the competitive electronic and magnetic phase transition.
