Quantum critical dynamics in a frustrated J1-J2 spin chain compound
Abstract: Here, we investigate a new metallic spin chain compound Ti4MnBi2 using neutron scattering, DMRG, and first-principles DFT. Utilizing the AMATERAS@J-PARC, we find a broad continuum of spinon-like excitations that disperse along the chain direction, but not transverse to it. The INS results match those of DMRG calculations of the J1-J2 XXZ model. The magnetic field dependence of spinons has been studied using HYSPEC@SNS, while the low energy critical spin dynamics are resolution limited. Thus, we propose to study the critical spin dynamics as a function of temperature and the applied magnetic field at OSIRIS.
