Exploration of the reactive species in sodium-flux based nitride syntheses using in-situ liquid diffraction
Abstract: Nitride materials have gained remarkable interest as materials for optoelectronic applications like LEDs and photovoltaics. In spite of the technological and scientific interest, the synthesis of nitride materials remains a challenge. The use of metallic flux techniques is successful, but the underlying processes are poorly understood. Herein, we propose neutron liquid diffraction as a direct probe of the reactive N-species in liquid sodium and will use total scattering approaches as tool for the thorough understanding of the underlying processes.
