Structure-Property Relationships in K2ZnV2O7 Oxide Ion Conductor: Phase Transition, Average and Local Structure
Abstract: Materials with high oxide ion conductivity at moderate temperatures (400-600oC) are of significant research interest owing to their applications as electrolytes in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), devices for green electricity generation. Successful development of new and improved SOFC components relies on comprehensive characterisation of solid electrolytes at both local and average structure level, leading to in-depth understanding of the O2? migration in the material. In this proposal we request 3 days of POLARIS beamtime to collect high quality data for pair distribution function (PDF) analysis and Rietveld refinement, with the aim to probe the local and average structure of new oxide ion conductor K2ZnV2O7 at room temperature and in its high-temperature, high-conductivity state.
