Probing superconducting ground state properties of self-assembled vdW heterostructure
Abstract: Van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures offer unique control over electronic and magnetic properties that are unattainable in individual layers. Misfit layered compounds (MLCs) are naturally occurring vdW heterostructures formed by two structurally dissimilar sublattices. In this proposal, we seek to investigate the superconducting ground state properties of single crystals of (PbS) 1.13 TaS 2 . The two-dimesional nature of superconductivity and strong spin-orbit interaction suggests the possibility of unconventional superconducting ground states in this material. The superconducting properties are studied by measuring temperature-dependent magnetization and zero- field-specific heat measurements, revealing the superconducting onset temperature at T c = 3.03(2) K. The temperature variation of upper critical field suggests (PbS) 1.13 TaS 2 as a multigap anisotropic superconductor. Moreover, we observe anomalous magneto-transport properties above the superconducting transition in (PbS) 1.13 TaS 2, like planar Hall effect (PHE) and anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR), suggesting non-triviality in band structures. These findings mark the potential of misfit compound (PbS) 1.13 TaS 2 for exploring time-revresal symmtery breaking in such heterostructures.
