Muon Spin Relaxation Study of Spin Dynamics and Magnetic Phase Transition in CeRh2Ga2
Abstract: CeRh2Ga2, which crystallizes in a CaBe2Ge2-type (space group P4/nmm) tetragonal structure at room temperature, is found to exhibit Kondo lattice heavy fermion behaviour with a possible Weyl-Kondo semimetal phase at low temperature. Both, electrical resistivity and heat capacity show an anomaly near 255 K likely related to a structural transition. The heat capacity exhibits an upturn below 6 K and peaks near 0.8 K very likely associated with a long-range magnetic ordering. A peak is also seen near 0.75 K in the ac magnetic susceptibility. Further investigations using the muon spin relaxation measurements down to mK temperature are highly desired to understand the low temperature magnetic phase transition and effect of Rh-site disorder on the spin dynamics in this compound. We propose to carry out µSR measurements using the EMU spectrometer on CeRh2Ga2 which will provide valuable information about the spin dynamics in this compound.
