Electronic and Structural Transformation of Hydrogen and Oxygen Atoms on Biochar/Pd@Layered Double Hydroxide (BC/Pd@ [(MII)1?x(MIII)x(OH)2]x+(An?)x/n·yH2O]) Interlayer Spacing
Abstract: The exceptional characteristics of layered double hydroxide (LDH) have led to its significant impact in several domains, including supercapacitors, environmental remediation, and catalysis. LDH is an anionic clay comprising positively charged metal hydroxide layers with intercalated anions, with the formula [MII1??MIII?(OH)2]?+(An?)?/n·yH2O, where M2+ and M3+ are divalent and trivalent metals, respectively. Anion exchange processes and the arrangement of M2+ and M3+ in the hydroxide layers can be adjusted within certain compositional ranges. This research aims to develop a novel biochar/Pd@LDH catalyst for Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling, addressing challenges posed by the the precise location of atoms and the distance between them in the interlayer region. The synthesis involves impregnating biochar from Sheffield Hallam University onto the Pd@LDH host, providing a promising material for various environmental applications due to its high specific surface area and porous structure. Physiochemical characterization of the catalyst using techniques like Multi-Analyser and Position-Sensitive Detector Spectrometer will offer insights into its properties and performance in organocatalytic processes and environmental applications. This study promises a simpler, cost-effective, and safer method for Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling, aligning with National Key Economic Areas and contributing to sustainable growth.
