Presure induced phase transitions in K2IrCl6
Abstract: The complex interplay of crystal field splitting, spin-orbit (SO) coupling and on-site Coulomb repulsion in half-filled 4d and 5d transition-metal (TM) compounds has stimulated considerable interest in these over the past decadeThe present proposal seeks to use neutron diffraction methods to provide an accurate and precise structural model of K2IrCl6 as a function of pressure. Neutron diffraction is necessary for these measurements because of the comparatively weaker contribution of the chloride vs iridium to X-ray scattering.
