In search of quantum spin liquid state in a pyrochlore compound Yb2InNbO7
Abstract: Experimental realization of quantum spin liquid (QSL) state, where spins are highly correlated but do not show any spontaneous symmetry breaking down to T=0K, in three-dimentional (3D) frustrated systems is a rare occurrence. We have considered a 3D pyrochlore system, namely Yb2InNbO7. A high-quality polycrystalline sample has been synthesized. Magnetization and heat capacity measurements indicate an absence of long-range magnetic ordering or spin-freezing down to 350 mK with reasonable high antiferromagnetic exchange interactions between Yb^3+ (J_eff=1/2) moments. Our basic bulk property compels us to utilize muSR as a local tool to elucidate the possibility of QSL in this compound.
