Negative thermal expansion in Ag2O
Abstract: It is proposed to investigate the origin of negative thermal expansion (NTE) in Ag2O by measuring the neutron correlation function on GEM as a function of temperature. The structure of Ag2O involves two identical interpenetrating networks of corner-sharing OAg4 tetrahedra, and it is anticipated that the NTE may arise as a result of collective intra-network motions of the tetrahedra.
