Connecting cellular water behaviour to drug action
Abstract: Considering that the dynamical window covered by IRIS (or OSIRIS) is within the observed diffusion coefficient range for intracellular water, this proposal aims to achieve a much better understanding of the behaviour of cellular water before and after being treated by the monoclonal antibody tocilizumab (TCZ); either free of, or encapsulated in, a newly developed biopolymeric nanoparticle. It is expected that cells treated with free or encapsulated TCZ, as opposed to cells treated only with the NPs, will present a different flexibility when compared to untreated cells (control).
