Investigating detailed magnetic skyrmion dynamics in 2D Kagome magnet Single crystals using the small-angle neutron scattering

Abstract: Magnetic skyrmions are seen as spin vortices and due to its topological protection, they drives particle-like properties along with a distinct thermodynamically stable phases in presence of external magnetic field. This is a unique field-induces real-space Berry curvature effect, where multiple spins cluster together and their quantized emergent magnetic flux generates unique physical properties. Due to various exotic features, skyrmions are considered as highly promising candidates for next-generation low-powered spintronic information-processing and storage devices. Most important part here is to arrest this magnetic field induces state in a 2D material, where material can be easily cleaved to monolayer state and then the quantum properties of the fabricated devices can be easily controlled with external perturbations for technological applications. Here we propose to perform the SANS experiment on two new 2D kagome lattice materials, TbTi3Bi4 and GdTi3Bi4. In our grown single crystals, we have observed distinct field induced first order phase transitions in detailed magnetization measurements and colossal anomalous Hall conductivity with few orders of magnetite higher than typical quantum ferromagnets; together distinctly indicate presence of strong skyrmionic excitation induced real space Berry curvature effect in the material. We requested 4 days of measurement time to perform the planned experiments.
