Spin nematic phase of a two-dimensional antiferromagnet
Abstract: Electronic nematicity in crystalline solids is an intriguing property commonly coupled with other intertwined phases. The recent discovery of a novel nematic state in the van der Waals antiferromagnet FePSe3 makes this material a fascinating platform to explore spin nematicity. Here, we propose to study the spin excitations of FePSe3 with inelastic neutron scattering. A uniaxial strain will be applied to tune the nematic phase. We aim to detect symmetry-breaking features in the gapped excitations and extract the corresponding nematic susceptibility.
