SANS Investigation of comparative evolution of ?? and ?? nano-precipitates in laser additive manufactured IN718 and wrought IN718 super alloy
Abstract: This work aims to understand the formation of solute clusters and evolution of ?? and ?? nano-precipitates in nickel-based superalloy, IN718. A comparative investigation of heat-treatment and precipitation in additive manufactured (selective laser melted) and wrought IN718 specimens is proposed to be conducted. This comparative study using SANS will provide insight into the quality of additive manufactured specimens, and how the process parameters affect the precipitates and precipitation kinetics which is critical to the superalloy properties.
