Neutron Diffraction Investigation of Magnetic structure of Kondo lattice CeRh2Ga2

Abstract: CeRh2Ga2, which crystallizes in a CaBe2Ge2-type (space group P4/nmm) tetragonal structure at room temperature, is found to exhibit Kondo lattice heavy fermion behaviour with a possible Weyl-Kondo semimetal phase at low temperature. Both, electrical resistivity and heat capacity show an anomaly near 255 K likely related to a structural transition. The heat capacity exhibits an upturn below 6 K and peaks near 0.8 K very likely associated with a long-range magnetic ordering. A peak is also seen near 0.75 K in the ac magnetic susceptibility. Neutron diffraction measurements are, however, needed to ascertain the low temperature magnetic ground state of this compound. We therefore propose to perform neutron powder diffraction measurements on CeRh2Ga2 using the WISH diffractometer to investigate its magnetic structure.
