Probing superconducting gap structure and time reversal symmetry state of SrPd2As2 using muon spin relaxation and rotation
Abstract: Recent observations of time reversal symmetry breaking in s-wave BCS superconductors have generated considerable interests in muon spin relaxation and rotation (µSR) investigations of s-wave superconductors. SrPd2As2 is one such s-wave superconductor which exhibit superconductivity below the transition temperature Tc ? 0.92 K. The electrical resistivity and heat capacity measurements reveal electron-phonon mediated weak coupling type-II superconductivity possibly with an anisotropic s-wave gap. We were allotted 2 days of beamtime for µSR measurements on SrPd2As2 through ISIS proposal RB2410594. The µSR measurements reveal evidence for TRS breaking in SrPd2As2. However, because of smaller Tc the allotted beamtime was not sufficient for Transverse field measurement to estimate the superfluid density and probe superconducting gap structure. We therefore request for one more day of µSR beamtime on MuSR spectrometer to complete the TF measurements on SrPd2As2.
