Excitations in the Normal State of Unconventional Superconductor UAs2

Abstract: The rare examples of spin-triplet superconductors (TSC) feature electrons forming Cooper pairs with odd parity, making these materials great hosts for topological superconductivity, Majorana physics, and therefore, quantum computing. Recently, experimental evidence of spin-triplet pairing has been discovered in a series of U-based heavy fermion superconductors, including UTe2, UGe2, URhGe, and UCoGe. Recently, superconductivity was discovered in UAs2. Transport experiments show a Neel temperature TN = 274 K under ambient pressure, a superconducting dome between ~ 20 and 32 GPa with a maximum superconducting transition temperature Tc ~ 4 K and a structure-related superconducting transition. Magnetotransport experiments show an upper critical field ?0Hc2 up to ~ 12 T, exceeding the Pauli paramagnetic limit and showing an exotic pairing mechanism. We will co-align crystals in the (H0L) scattering plane. The temperature will be set to the base temperature and a 180-degree scan will be conducted using Ei = 70 meV to cover the entire spin excitation spectra and all the CEF levels. Then, Ei will be chosen to be 30 meV to characterize the magnon in detail. This result will provide crucial insight into the role of magnetic interaction in the exotic pairing mechanism.
