Engine-X Neutron Diffractometer Measurement of ?2 in 1 Intumescent Coating in Geopolymer Plaster? as Fire Protection Materials Towards Interfacial Bonding Mechanism Approach
Abstract: Plaster is indispensable for coating, preserving, and beautifying interior walls and ceilings. Its crucial role extends to fire resistance, safeguarding against the spread of combustible materials and protecting concrete structures from irreversible damage. Intumescent coating, containing fire-resistant chemicals, expands under high heat, forming a protective layer. Combining plaster with fire protection yields numerous benefits, yet attention must be paid to the base material's integrity specifically on coating. Geopolymer, renowned for thermal stability and fire resistance, emerges as a promising choice. While plaster can serve as an intumescent coating, additional layers may be necessary for comprehensive fireproofing. Current research predominantly enhances coating properties with OPC, leaving a gap for exploring geopolymer's performance. This study aims to scrutinize geopolymer coating's behavior under high temperatures, employing neutron diffraction to evaluate phase changes and deformation mechanisms. In-situ compressive and tensile tests, reaching temperatures up to 900°C, will provide crucial insights. Morphological, chemical, and weight loss analyses will complement the mechanical data, elucidating material responses to thermal stress. This investigation fills a significant research void, promising invaluable insights into fire-resistant coating applications.
