Kinetics of Soil-Release Polymer Activity at Model Fabric Interfaces
Abstract: Soil release polymers work in laundry products by adsorbing onto fabric surfaces and either preventing adhesion of soils to surfaces or redeposition of soils from solution during laundering. We have started to explore this process at the nm scale using neutron reflection in order to validate predictive models in a large collaborative project. Our focus in this proposal is to explore the detailed kinetics of adsorption of both soil release polymers and models for complex soils, for a well defined model system.
