The Dimensionality of the Electron Transfer in Single-Stranded DNA

Abstract: The study on the elctron motion in single-strand DNA (ssDNA) model molecule is proposed by applying the muon-labelling method. From our previous mSR studies, we are suggesting that the one-dimensional electron motion is fomred in ssDNA. This one-dimensional electron conductivity is supported form our STM measurements to be happen via the side-by-side connection between ssDNA molecules. We carried out the molecular-dynamics simulation (MDS) and revealed that the pai-pai stacking interaction between mlecules form the one-dimensional electron motion. Beceause the pai-pai stacking can vary with the temperature, we suggset in this proposal to measure the electron conductivity in ssDNA molecules by changing the temperature. Compring all information obtained from mSR, STM and MDS, we aim to clarify the electron motion behavior in DNA.
