Solving the magnetic structure of Shastry-Sutherland Model System Tb2Be2GeO7
Abstract: We propose to study the crystal structure of Tb2Be2GeO7 - a rare-earth based Shastry-Sutherland compound - on high-quality single crystal sample. Our previous powder neutron diffraction measurements reveal a magnetically ordered phase transition at low temperatures. We have performed low temperature thermodynamics measurements on single crystal sample of Tb2Be2GeO7 which not only confirm the ordered state at zero field, but indicate the possibility of emergence of super-structure spin states as a function of magnetic field. However our recent single crystal neutron data showed presence of a very week forbidden (1,0,0) peak which is not observed in X-ray SC and neutron powder measurement. Here we propose to study the structure more systematically to confirm the crystal structure.
