Magnon dispersion in bulk FeOCl
Abstract: We propose to use the MERLIN spectrometer to measure the magnon dispersion in bulk FeOCl, a van der Waals layered antiferromagnet with a cycloid magnetic ground state and a propagation vector [0.5, 0.5, 0.275]. We have performed magneto-Raman scattering experiments at T=5K that clearly show two \Gamma-point magnon excitations at 6.2 and 9.3 meV. With neutron scattering, we would like to access the whole Brillouin zone to characterize the magnetic Hamiltonian and to quantify the exchange parameters and anisotropy.
