Follow the charge: orbital reorganization across the time-reversal symmetry breaking transition in kagome superconductors

Abstract: The newly discovered Kagomè superconductors with formula unit AV3Sb5 (A=K,Rb,Cs alkali metals) offer the chance to study exotic phenomena related to charge density wave (CDW) instabilities and time-reversal symmetry breaking (TRSB) transitions preceding the superconducting phase. As of today, a good understanding of the CDW order has been established while the nature of the TRSB transition is yet to be clarified. Moreover, the two phenomena are believed to be closely related, but TRSB revealed by muSR is concomitant or follows the CDW depending on the alkali metal. We propose a muon spin spectroscopy experiment to characterize and analyze how electronic charges reorganize across the TRSB transition with the avoided level crossing technique.
